The people of Piedmont are great ones for festivals and pageantry – quite often in mediaeval costume – and the area has gained a reputation as one of the great gastronomic regions of Italy.
Pollenzo, in the municipality of Bra, is the birthplace of the slow food movement.
The region boasts some of the finest wines in Italy – Barolo being the most famous, and the cheeses of the Valle d’Aosta, including fontina, are world renowned.
October – the season of truffles and wild mushrooms, autumn fruits and pumpkins is when the Piedmontese cuisine really comes into its own.
At Festa, we will be celebrating the dishes of Piedmont in the first of our Chef’s Feasts on Thursday 27th October.
We very much hope you will be free to join us. Mediaeval costume is optional!
